Sarik Tara, president of Enka Holding and the Russian and Turkish Business and Friendship Association, has made “unbelievable” investments in Russia in the past 18 years, calling it his “second home.”
Russia-Turkey relations need to be enhanced much faster, Tara asserted, noting they should be prioritized over dealings with Germany or the United States.
Tara predicts Russia will surpass even Germany in the next 10 years, “the new generation in Russia is hard-working, unlike Germany, where the population is also decreasing.”
The key to success, according to Tara, is for foreign businesses to adapt to Russian policies. “Here, people pull open doors, they don’t push. There is no use in trying to change this,” Tara said and added that Europeans usually do not achieve their goals in Russia because they come with their own set of rules. He also emphasized the importance of employee insurance and rights in Russia.
Referring to questions about the infamous Russian mafia and bribes, Tara said he has never experienced any problems in that regard.
Enka holding was founded in Istanbul in 1957 and realized its first project in Russia when it agreed to construct the Petrosky Center. It has built 137 projects worth 5.5 million dollars in 18 years in Russia, and has realized an investment of $450,000 dollars with its Turkish partner in the region, the Koc Group.
Turkey has displayed stable and achievable policies in the region, Tara said. He stressed the importance of Turkey as a market for Russia. |
