An internal Google document containing the company’s target for 2006 was obtained by Philipp Lenssen, a Google Blogoscoped blogger. Based on the document, Google’s target includes: selling a billion dollars of new ad inventory, getting rid of spam in the top 20 user languages; enhancing the accuracy of information collected; pushing communities and content; and "increasing the scale of innovation".
Google is also planning to “build 10 megawatts of green power to be on track to be carbon neutral" and reduce unwanted programs by 50% according to Blogoscope.
Moreover, a subsequent document with a theme “Objectives and Key Results--Q3 2006 Company OKRs,” discusses the plan to launch a Paid Content result section on Google.com. which is believed to generate additional revenue. The document also includes a proposal of a Google News prototype to be initiated and allow "other news sources, and organizations and individuals mentioned in news stories, to debate specific points."
A Google representative was asked for reaction on the latter and said: "Like many companies, Google has a regular planning and goal-setting process. The result of this process is, of course, confidential and proprietary information, which we do not discuss publicly. We are unable to provide additional information."
