China Under Attack By Toxic Algae

Beijing - State media in China reported the country’s latest pollution scare in the form of toxic algae that destroys plant and fish life in two of the country’s biggest lakes.
The blue-green foul-smelling algae is said to be spreading in Chaohu and in neighboring Anhui province after it has already infected Lake Taihu, trigging panic and forcing residents to turn off contaminated tap water supplies.
Local government authorities who were monitoring water quality has ordered the shut down of all polluting factories around Taihu due to the gravity of the situation.
