Bogazici Bridge toll booths replaced by automatic system

It will no longer be possible to pay the Bo?aziçi (Bosphorus) Bridge toll with cash as of midnight tonight. All of the toll gates currently accepting cash payment will close, and replaced by the Electronic Toll Collection System (OGS), as well as a Card Payment System (KGS), from 24:00 tonight. The cash payment toll-gates on Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge will be taken down to four toll-gates at the same time.

Drivers wishing to cross the Bosphorus without the OGS or KGS will have to use Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and make their payment in cash at one of the four toll-gates on the bridge. Officials of the highway administration say that there will be no delay in implementation of the new system.

Drivers crossing Bo?aziçi Bridge without the OGS or KGS will be fined 10 times the toll fee. It is possible to purchase either the OGS or KGS at banks, Post Offices, exits at both Bo?aziçi and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridges, and at Mahmutbey and Çamlyca sales stations.

It was reminded that 67 per cent of tolls were currently being paid by either the OGS or KGS, and that these fees are 20 per cent cheaper than paying by cash.
