 Lisa Ludwigsen, owner and president of the School Garden Corp., which offers a variety of organic herbal products, bequeaths all the company’s net profits to schools that are struggling to reach the academic standards.
Ludwigsen started from an ordinary job that develops and initiates an all-inclusive garden program at a K-8 public school in Petaluma. It was there when she realized how beneficial school gardens are to students and teachers. As a consequence, she formed a company to aid the teachers and parents for some educational financial needs.
She stated, “Gardens create a meaningful context for teaching academic standards and introducing the joy of growing and eating fresh, seasonal food. Learning through gardening provides many educational opportunities for students of all ages. All core subjects can be taught through a garden, and kids come alive when they take part in growing food and create a living, breathing garden.”
