Hatay Governor Sari said that suspects were repatriated by Syria under the Adana Agreement signed between Turkey and Syria to co-operate in security.
HATAY (AA) - Interrogation of Hilmi Tugluoglu, his wife and 20 other people suspected of involvement in quadruple suicide attacks in Istanbul, have still been continuing at the Provincial Gendarme Command in southern province of Hatay.
Hatay Governor Abdulkadir Sari said on Monday that the suspects were repatriated by Syria under the Adana Agreement signed between Turkey and Syria to co-operate in security.
"Syrian officials were informed that Hilmi Tugluoglu, who is believed to have been involved in Istanbul bombings, could be in Damascus. Yesterday, Syria handed over Tugluoglu, his wife Leyla Tugluoglu and 20 Turkish citizens studying in some religious schools in Syria. Some of the suspects are under 18. These people were captured by Syrian security units in an operation in Damascus. Their interrogation has still been continuing," he said.
Sari named suspects as Rabia Serife T., 33, E.N.H, 15, Suna D., 26, S.V., 15, Nilufer D., 22, Muhamet A., 20, Hanif S., 21, A.K., 15, Elif A., 18, Kehriban C., 19, Ali A., 28, Kenan B., 30, M.K., 16, E.K.G., 14, Abdullah B., 23, Bekir E., 29, Sevda Y., 31, Hatice G., 20, Muhammet Nurullah K., 19, and Mahsuk Y., 25.
A total of 57 people were killed and 712 others were injured in four suicide attacks on Jewish and British targets in Istanbul on November 15 and 20, 2003.
