Two insurgent snipers were caught on Sunday by the Iraqi police in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, and many weapons seized.

The Iraqi police raided a house in Mosul’s al-Sukar, and arrested Ahmed Muhammad and Jumaa Ayali, two insurgents reported being snipers. Also sniper rifles, bazookas, and ammunition were seized.

The police chief of Mosul, Wassek al-Humdani, stated the struggle against insurgents in Iraq had improved since 2004; “We were weaker in 2004, but we got stronger now and caught many insurgents, all of them Iraqis. Those caught insurgents were not only from Mosul, but from all across Iraq. Insurgents are killing police officers and civilians. We are aiming to give an end to this situation”.
