On the 85th day of the disaster, BP finally stop the flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. This is called America's biggest environmental catastrophes due to estimated 186 million gallon gushing oil into the water. No one really knows how much oil leaked in the water.
Though, it is a temporary fix. Cap, designed as a collection system, allows ships to collect oil from the surface through pipes. No one knows how long this will last. BP Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles said, "It's far from the finish line. ... It's not the time to celebrate." Because cap needed a set off a 48-hour watch period. If the sea floor does not crack, if the pressure does not affect the pipes this could be the beginning of the end for the oil spill.
On the other hand, President Obama who was accused by government inaction, said It is a positive sign, but we are still in the testing phase.”.
The next 48 hours are critical. Scientists and engineers will be monitoring the cap and ceking the pressure around the cap. But at the end of the 48-hour test it's possible oil will start to flow again.
Gulf Coast had hard times economically, psychologically, and the environmentally during past three months. The fishing industry, tourism industry is struggling with the effects of this disaster.
