U.S. senate appoints James Jeffrey as new ambassador to Turkey

   
The United States Senate has approved Thursday the appointment of James Jeffrey as the new U.S. ambassador to Turkey.

U.S. senate appoints James Jeffrey as new ambassador to Turkey

Jeffrey, who until recently was a deputy national security adviser to U.S. President George Bush, served for a long period in the U.S. military and the State Department.



Jeffrey served in Turkey three times in the past and speaks Turkish.



James Jeffrey was U.S. ambassador to Albania in 2002-2004 and served at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad as the charge d'affaires in 2004-2005.
