 Over the last two months, at least 5 mobile phones exploded. This has made the headline news and caused anxiety among phone users.
All the cases involved Motorola phones. The company said that it was investigating about the cause of the problem. At the same time, the telecommunication agency of Brazil is also investigating the case as well.
The most recent incident was on April 30. The victim was a 34-year-old woman from Formosa, Goias. She had burns on her thighs and arms and had undergone surgery because of this. It was reported that the mobile phone exploded on her lap while she was driving on her car.
There were also reported incidents in Rio de Janeiro and three cities in San Paulo state in April.
Motorola stated that the probable cause of the explosion was that the victims used low-quality batteries for their phones.
Samantha Simon, Motorola spokeswoman, stated last week that the company is having a strong campaign to warn users not to buy and use low-quality accessories and should choose the original ones.
