|A good game for the Jazz as they roll pass the Nuggets in a win at home. It was point guard Keith McLeod and Turkish big man Mehmet "Memo" Okur who headlined the Jazz win.|
Keith McLeeod exploded in the second half as he scored 13 of his 18 points during the 2nd half rally, Memo in the other hand scored team high 28 points to rally a 103-90 win over the struggling Nuggets, who played without injured center Marcus Camby.
Because Camby was unavailable Utah took advantage of the situation, avenging their 114-83 lost to the Nuggets on January 30, before the win Utah have lost 7 of their 9 games.
Utah's coach Jerry Sloan said that "After we got beat by 30 points over there, I didn't know what we would do tonight," he added "I thought our guys came out strong, they ran hard, really tried to help each other and they went after the basket a little harder than they did the other night."Sloan was satisfied ny the way his players played.
Carmelo Anthony, the young superstar of Denver Nuggets said "I think Utah had in the back of their minds the game when we beat them by 30 points," also added "Any time we beat a team like that and come right back (to play them), they're always going to get motivated and try to punch us first before we hit them." Melo didn't have a superb game, although scoring 20 points, he was 8 out of 22 in the field, grabbing only 2 rebounds.
Jazz do-it-all forward Andrei Kirilenko said "We started to push the ball. We just got rebounds and beat Denver at their game," adding "They like to run a lot, and sometimes they forget about defense. So we kind of forced them, with our fast attack, to get back (on defense)." Their gamplan succeed as AK47 did have a trumendous game filling the stat sheets with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks.
Okur who had a very good night with 28 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks (It is Okur's 20th double-double game), shooting 9 of 15 from the field, and almost perfect from the line with 8 out of 9.
Okur said that "We were active, we attacked the basket and got to the free-throw line," also adding "I think we did well tonight, especially in the second half." Underlining the big 2nd half explosion of his team.
Gordan Giricek didn't played sidelined with tendinitis in his left achilles tendon, So Jerry Sloan decided to make his line-up faster, starting both point guards Keith McLeod and Milt Palacio, it was a great move as the backcourt tandem did recorded 30 points and 11 assists, showing Utah's nice ball movement the team made 23 assists with 37 field goal.
