Three persons, including two police officers, were seriously injured in the explosion.
At least 19 people were wounded when a bomb was detonated at a concert in the southern city of Mersin Sunday night.
Among those injured were two police officers, both of whom are listed as being in a serious condition. According to some reports, the explosive device had been planted under the car the two officers were in.
As many as 30,000 people had been attending the concert at the time of the explosion, which came just as the performance was ending.
Atilla Osmancelebioglu, the provincial governor of Mersin, said that police had conducted controlled detonations of two other suspicious parcels near the site of the concert, though he did say whether or not they had also been bombs.
Security forces are conducting a major operation to determine who was responsible for the blast, Osmancelebioglu said. |
