Talabani's Nephew Killed in Kerkuk

Iraqi oil fields security chief, Ghazi Talabani, lost his life as a result of an armed attack on June 16.
Ghazi Talabani was the nephew of Celal Talabani, the leader of the Iraqi Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).
Ghazi Talabani was ambushed as he was leaving his house in Kerkuk (Kirkuk) and died at the scene of the crime. The newly formed interim Iraqi government has lost three of its bureaucrats in one week.
Elsewhere, a bomb attack on a police car and a civilian car killed nine people in Ramadi. Four of those killed were foreigners.
In the city of Beled, 80 kilometers south of Baghdad, an attack on a U.S. base killed two American soldiers and injured 21.
Meanwhile, it was announced that the U.S. Vice-Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General George Casey has been assigned as the Chief of U.S. Command in Iraq.
